Carriacou is the largest island of the Grenadines the most beautiful archipelago in the Caribbean. The name 'Carriacou' derives from the Carib word for the island meaning 'land of reefs.' Although only 13 square miles the island is surrounded by productive reefs, crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches, with numerous, pristine offshore isles. It possesses a spectacular topography for its size.

Still largely undiscovered and undeveloped, the island maintains a rich biodiversity, including innumerable tropical plants, a wealth of reef systems, marine life, a multitude of tropical birds and reptiles.

"Two Amazonian macaws swooped by, their tail feathers rippling in the glow, their opinions ricocheting around the hillside. I dropped my bags with a contented sigh." -THE SUNDAY TIMES

There is a remarkably diverse and rich cultural tradition. The Macaws is located directly below High North bordering the national park of Carriacou — a diverse nature reserve of over 1000 acres encompassing the spectrum of ecological systems on the island. The island offers the visitor some of the most memorable moments and experiences in the Grenadines. Carriacou is a rare and intriguing little paradise.

"The most beautiful of all the little isles is Kayryouacou." - PERE DU TERTRE 1656
